Our heart matters

“Our heart matters” is one of the most popular workshops Unified People offers its costumers

Several statistics show that Denmark is suffering from the lowest engagement at the workplace in ten years. Confidence in managers as well as management teams has been approaching its bottom, and more than 50% of Danish workers would change jobs tomorrow, if possible. Further, the management has the challenge of creating an organization that understands the importance of pulling together in the same direction. The rising discontent and the falling level of productivity that we experience every day are just a few symptoms of a crisis the business world is undergoing.

The effect of a negative organizational development is at great cost for both the company and it’s employees. A clear sign of the current crisis is the challenge of anchoring a successful strategy; employees cannot see the point in taking responsibility for the anchoring of new changes, and thus the failure of the process. Whether we like it or not, changes are here to stay, and this forces us to adapt ourselves and our organizations to new market conditions. If we chose to ignore the incoming changes for a long period of time the consequences might be fatal. In many cases changes affect the role of numerous staff members, meaning that their actual job ends unaligned with their identity.

Thus the ones affected leave out their passion, commitment, responsibility and engagement at home. Simply being forced to compromise on their personal values (authenticity) to be able to act within the framework established by the company. This has remarkable consequences for both efficiency and job satisfaction. Also, it affects employees on a personal level in the form of growing absenteeism and stress. The workshop “Our heart matters” challenges the issues mentioned above.

We give our educated guess and practical tools on how to change this trend through awareness of the individual’s own responsibility, attitude, energy, insight, and communication skills.

We must recover the desire and energy to bring our hearts to work!
